Turntables

We carry Dynavector, and Wilson Benesch phono cartridges. Please inquire for more information.

For over thirty years, Rega has been designing exceptional turntables. Representing the best value in the industry, Rega turntables are extremely reliable, built to exacting standards, straightforward to operate and virtually maintenance free. But don't let their modest appearance fool you - these turntables incorporate cutting edge technology and space age materials. High precision bearings, remarkably accurate motors, and delicately balanced tonearms are among the many trademarks of a Rega turntable. Of course, the Rega sound is famous: warm but detailed, laid back but dynamic, accurate and precise but never clinical or fatiguing.

P3

The P3 is Rega's entry level turntable, but it is no slouch in performance. The platter is hand crafted from floated plate glass 13 mm in thickness. This makes for a superb platter material as it has nearly ideal resonance characteristics, is extremely flat and has substantial mass. The P3 motor assembly uses a very high quality synchronous motor found in turntables five times the price! The motor is itself controlled by Rega's innovative new electronic circuitry, which results in this already low vibration motor running virtually vibration free. The P3 carries arguably the most famous tonearm ever produced, the legendary RB300. This tonearm is an ideal match for a wide variety of cartridges, even higher priced moving coil designs. The P3 is available in a variety of colors.

P5

The Rega P5 is the most exciting introduction to the Rega turntable lineup in some time. This turnable features an ultra low vibration motor, glass platter similar to that used on the P3, and a further refined plinth that improves rigidity. The P5 utilises ideas and engineering techniques used on Rega's more expensive turntables; the aluminium surround, the complex CNC machined skeletal low mass micro-fibre plinth, and the new Rega tonearm, the RB700. This arm, also used on the more expensive P7, is a marvelous example of why Rega tonearms have set the industry standard for literally decades. While adhering to classic principles of Rega engineering, it again raises the bar while delivering tremendous value. Lastly, the P5 may be outfitted with the same outboard motor control PSU unit used on the P7, providing an upgrade path.

The Rega P7 is the sweet spot where the price/performance ratio is maximized. This turnable features an ultra low vibration motor, ceramic platter similar to that used on the P9, and a plinth much like the P5's, but refined further still. The P7 also features a simplified version of the outboard motor control unit found on the P9, ensuring absolutely perfect speed and pitch at both 33 and 45 RPM. Lastly, the P7 features a brand new Rega tonearm, the RB700 - which approahces the RB1000 in performance, but at a fraction of the cost. The resulting turntable is the classic case of a product that is greater than the sum of its parts. For many of our customers, the P7 is the perfect analog front end.

P9

The new P9 is an extremely high performance turntable. Rega designed the P9 with no financial restrictions whatsoever. The ceramic platter alone costs more to produce than the P25 turntable! With the right cartridge, the P9 can provide the ultimate musical experience from your beloved LP's.

The plinth is a complex CNC machined skeletal structure encased in highly ridged phenolic resin laminates. The equivalent to the carbon fibre 'monocoque' chassis of the formula one car - an ultra lightweight, ultra rigid foundation for this high performance turntable. The plinth of the new P9 uses a brand new material to hi-fi for the inner skeletal structure. It is an ultra lightweight fibre composite.

The main bearing assembly is engineered to extremely tight tolerances. This results in virtually friction free rumble-less performance which, if lubricated correctly, will last a lifetime!

The platter is quite simply the most exotic material Rega has used to date in their turntable designs. It is made from pure ceramic; a material that you would otherwise find on missile nose cones or maybe insulation tiles found on Nasa's space shuttle. The reason for using such an exotic and difficult to produce material? It is the hardest material known to man apart from diamond! High in mass and virtually free from resonance, this platter plays a large role in the P9's superlative performance.

The P9 carries a decorative surround of exotic solid woods, which you can interchange if you so wish to alter the turntable's appearance.

The new RB1000 tonearm takes thirty times longer to produce than an RB300. At present there are only two Rega technicians that can build this exotic tonearm. The RB1000 carries more technological changes over previous Rega tonearms than any produced during the last twenty years! Key areas of improvement can be found in the bearing assemblies, wiring and materials used. Rega has redistributed and reduced mass in areas critical to performance. The easiest place to see these changes would be the new polished aluminium arm tube. It has no coatings of any type. The design of the RB1000 has resulted in a tonearm with extremely high structural rigidity, combining ultra low friction movement together with massive stability. These attributes will make any cartridge mounted on this tonearm sound better than ever. Do not be surprised if the first time you listen to familiar music, you hear detail that you have never heard before!
