Audio & Video Furniture

Spectral & ReVox We are proud to offer a variety of furniture solutions for stereo and home theater systems. The criteria most important to us are as aesthetic, quality of construction, effective isolation, flexibility and customization. A high end component rack must both look good, and sound good. It must isolate the system from vibrations - especially in the case of turntables and CD players - to ensure that playback is not interrupted and overall sound quality is optimized. It should be flexible and available in various configurations or, ideally, built to order based on the components with which it will be used. A superior rack must also be constructed well so that it may support heavier components such as large amplifiers, while at the same time providing sufficient ventilation to guarantee that no component overheats. We have surveyed dozens of A/V furniture manufacturers and eliminated all but a few on the basis of inferior construction. All of the furniture we carry is exquisitely constructed from quality materials. As a result they are sturdy, durable, and built to last a lifetime.

We also have relationships with cabinet makers who can construct custom built-ins and other solutions. We work closely with our customers to ensure their systems look every bit as fabulous as they sound!

Rix Rax Logo

In truth, it is difficult to fully convey our enthusiasm for Rix Rax furniture. Any praise we express would be understatement. Rick Cox's designs are simply magnificent works of art. Each rack is built to order, according to the customer's wishes. We work closely with each customer, measuring and sketching a variety of possible designs. When the final design has been chosen, Rick masterfully molds it into a beautiful piece of furniture. Dimensions, shelf spacing, wood finishes, wood inlays, metal paint finishes, supporting spikes or casters may all be specified. Virtually every aspect of a Rix Rax may be customized, and the results are always stunning.

Rix Rax Sonata Rix Rax have proven quite popular among our customers. This is in part due to the fact that Rick can construct matched sets of racks, or coordinating racks and amplifier stands. We simply cannot overstate the beauty Rick's designs impart on one's system. Whether they are supporting a compact stereo, or a complex home theater with many components, Rix Rax are a connoisseur's dream come true.

But Rix Rax furniture is about more than artistic design. Rick has carefully chosen his materials and each rack is engineered to provide superb isolation and dramatically improve the performance of one's system. The architecture of the metal frames, the choice of cones and spikes, and literally every aspect of design has been painstakingly researched by Rick. He is both a talented artist and engineer in one.

Rix Rax maximize the fillable volume of every rack's skeletal structure. Each and every inch of the metal frame may be filled with sand, shot, or ATA Bites (which we recommend). The result is a rack that is virtually immune to vibrations. Bang on it, kick it, throw a basketball at it, do what you will - a Rix Rax that has been filled will simply scoff at any such attempt to disrupt the reproduction of music. The benefits of this level of isolation cannot be overstated where a turntable or high end CD player is concerned. Even those vibrations which are not severe enough to cause a record or CD to skip are still degrading the quality of reproduced sound. In the case of a turntable, smaller vibrations can cause feedback and other phenomena to occur. In the case of a CD player, they can cause the player to momentarily skip and resort to "error correction" which is an audibly inferior state of operation. Though you may not hear the song skip, you are not hearing it reproduced accurately. The ability to shield equipment from vibrations pays dividends beyond the ability to play a piece of music uninterrupted. You will enjoy higher fidelity sound as well! Without exaggeration, Rix Rax are the best performing component racks we have ever encountered. The good looks are merely the icing on the cake!

While Rick can build most anything your little heart desires, he does offer a series of series of standard racks which can, naturally, be modified to suit your wishes. Some of the most popular models are the Sonata (shown above), the Hoodoo (winner of The Absolute Sound's 2001 Golden Ear Award), and the Upright. Wider and shorter racks, designed to accommodate plasma displays, and conventional televisions, are also available. The sky is the limit!

Spectral Logo

Spectral ReVox Plasma Spectral offers a series of furniture solutions for both stereo and home theater systems with modern, minimalist styling. Streamlined designs of glass and aluminum, with optional wood accents, make an elegant statement and complement the aluminum finish found on many audio and video components. Spectral racks are often paired with ReVox components, and in fact Spectral offers stands designed specifically for many of ReVox's electronics and loudspeakers. Spectral stands are also quite popular with plasma displays, as pictured. Many of their racks are available with casters, which enable even heavier components and televisions to be wheeled around with ease. The glass shelves hold plenty of weight - up to 245 lbs per shelf - while retaining a sleek and unobtrusive appearance.

Spectral's offerings are numerous. Their extensive catalog covers practically every possible furniture need from speaker stands, and media storage to component racks and plasma stands (pictured). Spectral furniture is perhaps best described as a variation on a theme in that a given design is offered in a variety of different styles: with or without wood accents, with or without wheels, with curved shelves or rectangular shelves, silver posts or black posts, etc.
